Specification for Repair of Steps

Repair of Existing Steps – Replacement of Damaged Slabs

The Parish Council invites quotations for the repair of an existing pedestrian stepway. The existing step slabs are cracked and have been subject to temporary cement repairs. The works shall include:

Removal and disposal of all cracked, damaged and defective step slabs.

Removal of any temporary cement repairs and loose material.

Supply and installation of new paving slabs to match the existing dimensions, appearance and finish as closely as practicable.

Preparation and reinstatement of suitable foundations and bedding materials to ensure the steps are stable, level and safe for pedestrian use.

Repointing and making good adjacent surfaces as required.

Removal of all waste materials from site and leaving the area clean and tidy on completion.

Contractors should inspect the site prior to submitting a quotation and include all labour, materials, plant, disposal costs and any other expenses necessary to complete the works.

The completed repairs must provide a safe, durable and aesthetically appropriate finish suitable for public use.
